How to Become a Foster for Charlie’s Angels

Fostering is one of the most impactful ways you can help our rescue. By providing a temporary home, you’re giving a dog or cat the opportunity to recover, receive love, and prepare for adoption.

There’s no set time commitement for fostering. Some animals find homes quickly, while others might need a few weeks or months. Let us know what time frame works for you, and we’ll find an animal that fits your situation

Here’s how you can get involved:

Reach Out

Fill out the application below. If you meet the criteria we will have a chat about what type of animal would be a good fit for your home.

Home Preperation

All you need is a safe space for the animal to stay. If you don’t have experience fostering, don’t worry—we’ll provide all the guidance you need! We also supply everything else you and the animal will need, including dog food, a crate, a dog bed, toys, and other items.

Medical Support

We cover all vet costs while the animal is in your care. This includes vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and any medical treatments the animal might need.

Ongoing Support

Fostering isn’t something you do alone. We’ll stay in touch to provide support, answer any questions, and help with anything that comes up. You’ll be part of a team that truly cares.

Foster FAQ

  • What do I need to prepare before fostering an animal?

All you need is a safe space for the animal. If you don’t have experience fostering, don’t worry! We’ll provide all the guidance you need. Plus, we supply everything necessary, including dog food, a crate, a dog bed, toys, and other dog-related items to make sure the animal feels comfortable.

  • Will I need to pay for any medical care for the animal?

No, we cover all veterinary costs while the animal is in your care. This includes vaccinations, deworming, flea and tick prevention, and any necessary medical treatments. You won’t have to worry about the vet bills!

  • How much support will I receive while fostering?

You won’t be alone in this! We’ll stay in touch with you throughout the process, answering questions and providing support whenever needed. You’ll be part of a caring team, and we’re here to help with anything that comes up during your time as a foster.

  • How long will I need to foster an animal?

The time commitment can vary. Some animals find their forever homes quickly, while others may stay with you for a few weeks or even months. Just let us know what time frame works best for you, and we’ll match you with an animal that fits your situation.

  • What is the Foster-to-Adopt Program?

Our Foster-to-Adopt program gives you the chance to foster a dog or cat for a trial period, allowing you to see how the animal fits into your home and lifestyle before making a final decision. This trial period lasts up to 3 weeks, giving both you and the animal time to adjust and see if it's a good match.

During the trial period, the animal is not available for any other interested parties, we cover all veterinary costs, and you provide the daily care and love. After the 3 weeks, we’ll decide together if the adoption feels like the right fit. If everything goes well, we’ll finalize the adoption with the adoption fee and contract, and the animal becomes a permanent part of your family! If it’s not the right fit, we’ll work closely with you to find the best solution. Ideally, the animal will stay with the foster family until we find a perfect match (all costs covered by us). However, if there are any safety or health concerns (like unexpected allergies or anything that makes the situation unsafe for either the animal or adopter), we’ll address it immediately and take the necessary steps to ensure everyone’s well-being.

Please note that this Foster-to-Adopt program is only available for adoptions within Costa Rica.

Foster-to-Adopt Program

Our Foster-to-Adopt program lets you care for a dog or cat on a trial basis, giving you time to see how the animal fits into your home and lifestyle before making a final commitment.

The trial period lasts up to three weeks so that you and the animal can get used to each other and find out whether you are a good match.

During this time, the animal isn't available to other adopters, we cover all veterinary costs, and you provide food, daily care and love.

After three weeks, we will decide together whether the animal is a good match. If so, we will finalize the adoption with the adoption fee and contract, and the pet will become a permanent part of your family.

If it’s not the right fit, we’ll work with you to find the best solution. Ideally, the animal stays with you until we find a better match (all costs covered by us).

If safety or health issues arise, such as unexpected allergies or other problems that you are unable to resolve, we will take immediate action to protect everyone's well-being.

Foster-to-Adopt Program

Not sure what type of animal is the best fit for you? Our Foster-to-Adopt program allows you to foster an animal for up to three weeks while you decide if they are the right match for your home.

After a maximum of three weeks, you must decide whether to adopt or not. If you wish to adopt, you will need to complete the official adoption process.

If you decide not to adopt, the animal will be published for adoption and will remain in your care until a suitable home is found. If the foster animal is not a good fit for your home  (even for fostering), we will work to find an alternative solution as quickly as possible.

Spay & Neuter Saves Lives

Since 2014, our monthly pop-up spay and neuter clinics have helped reduce pet overpopulation and improve animal welfare in the Pérez Zeledón region.
