Lizzie was dropped off with her puppies at a pet shop in downtown San Isidro, where they were sitting crammed in a cage, essentially up for grabs. :(
Her puppies were taken quickly, but mama was left behind and ended up spending her days chained outside, waiting for someone to notice her.
We noticed.
She wasn’t spayed or vet checked and was very scared, with no idea what was happening.
We moved her into a loving foster home, where Lizzie has completely blossomed. She is deeply devoted to her person, gentle, affectionate, calm and incredibly sweet.
She loves her walks, enrichment games, snuffle mats and little food puzzles. She is very smart, so this kind of mental stimulation is especially important for her.
Lizzie loves her crate — it is her safe space, and she will often simply retreat there and relax.
She has no separation anxiety and can comfortably be left alone for several hours.
Lizzie can be a little shy when first meeting new dogs, but once she feels comfortable, she becomes very playful and social.
We can imagine Lizzie being absolutely perfect for someone looking for a peaceful, deeply devoted companion — perhaps even an older person or couple who enjoys walks, nature and a quieter lifestyle. We would especially love to see her in a home with a calm, confident dog she can look up to.
She is sensitive and does best with gentle handling and a calmer environment rather than a busy city.
Lizzie has already come such a long way.
Now she just needs the right person — and ideally the right canine friend — to give her the safe, loving home she deserves.

Where are you located / Is there a shelter I can visit?
We are a foster-based rescue, which means we operate without a shelter or office. Every animal we help is cared for in a foster home. Most of our fosters and volunteers are located in and around San Isidro de El General, Pérez Zeledón, in the Southern Zone of Costa Rica.
Can I visit the animals available for adoption?
Yes! Once your application is approved, we’ll coordinate a meet-and-greet with the foster home.

We are a small, volunteer-run organization with limited resources, but we do our best to help whenever possible. To report a stray animal or find more information, please visit our CONTACT PAGE.I saw a dog / cat on social media up for adoption but can’t find it on the website.
There are two possible reasons:
1. We haven’t had time to upload the animal to the website, but it may still be available.
2. The animal is in a foster-to-adopt trial or has already found a home. You’re still welcome to apply using our general adoption application. Then we can match you with a similar dog / cat.Are you a officially registered non-profit organization?

Are Donations Tax-Deductible?
Unfortunately, we can't issue tax-deductible receipts for donations made to our Costa Rican Bank Account or PayPal.
However, we’re supported by Friends of Charlie’s Angels Costa Rica, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the U.S. This allows U.S. donors to make tax-deductible contributions to support our rescue work in Costa Rica.
