đŸŸ Meet Nela

This sweet girl has been through a lot in her short life.

Nela is about 5 to 6 months old, and we rescued her from terrible  situation.

Her mom and one of her siblings were killed in a way that’s too awful to describe — but she made it out, along with four of her siblings, and has been safe with us ever since.

Nela is still a shy pup — especially around new people — but she’s playful and relaxed around other dogs. She absolutely lights up when she’s with her furry friends, and once you have her in your arms, she kind of melts. She wants to trust, and you can feel it.

She’s a gorgeous, gentle soul who just needs someone patient and kind to help her feel secure and loved. She’ll thrive in a calm home, ideally with another confident dog to show her the ropes.

Still finding her confidence, this quiet girl is looking for someone who understands that trust takes time. Once it’s earned, it’s forever.

We’re so proud of how far she’s come — and now it’s time to find her the right person to help her keep blooming.

Could it be you?

FAQ

  • Where are you located / Is there a shelter I can visit?

We are a foster-based rescue, which means we operate without a shelter or office. Every animal we help is cared for in a foster home. Most of our fosters and volunteers are located in and around San Isidro de El General, Pérez Zeledón, in the Southern Zone of Costa Rica.

  • Can I visit the animals available for adoption?

Yes! Once your application is approved, we’ll coordinate a meet-and-greet with the foster home.

  • Do you rescue wild animals too?

We focus on rescuing dogs and cats, but we can point you in the right direction if you’ve found a wild animal in distress. We recommend contacting:

    ‍Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary in Uvita at +506 2200 3271
Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center via WhatsApp at +506 6058 3898
SINAC (National System of Conservation Areas) at (+506) 2522-6500 for wildlife emergencies.

For urgent cases, please refer to our Emergency Guidelines on the CONTACT PAGE.
    ‍
We are a small, volunteer-run organization with limited resources, but we do our best to help whenever possible. To report a stray animal or find more information, please visit our CONTACT PAGE.

  • I saw a dog / cat on social media up for adoption but can’t find it on the website.

    There are two possible reasons:

    1. We haven’t had time to upload the animal to the website, but it may still be available.
    ‍
    2. The animal is in a foster-to-adopt trial or has already found a home. You’re still welcome to apply using our general adoption application. Then we can match you with a similar dog / cat.

  • Are you a officially registered non-profit organization?

Yes! Charlies Angels Resque is officially registered under the legal name AsociaciĂłn Charlie’s Angels CR, cĂ©dula jurĂdica 3-002-757592.

  • How are you funded?

We rely entirely on donations from generous individuals and the occasional fundraising. Every contribution makes a big difference. For more informatiopn visit our DONATION PAGE

  • Are Donations Tax-Deductible?

Unfortunately, we can't issue tax-deductible receipts for donations made to our Costa Rican Bank Account or PayPal.

However, we’re supported by Friends of Charlie’s Angels Costa Rica, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the U.S. This allows U.S. donors to make tax-deductible contributions to support our rescue work in Costa Rica.
