Kat is definitely the most Shar-Pei-looking puppy in Kira’s litter. And here’s something many people don’t realize: puppies from the same litter can actually have different fathers. If a female dog mates with several males during her fertile period, more than one male can father puppies in the same litter.
Of course, without a DNA test we can’t know for sure, but Kat and Kiki definitely show some very strong Shar-Pei traits — and there happens to be an unneutered Shar-Pei living in the neighborhood where Kira came from.
Kat and Kiki also have quite the confident, strong little personality. Because of their Shar-Pei-type features, we would especially love to see them adopted somewhere in a cooler part of Costa Rica, ideally at a higher elevation. Dogs with this type of skin and coat can be more prone to skin problems in very hot and humid conditions, so a cooler climate would be a great fit.
Hopefully that is exactly where Kat — and maybe Kiki too — will end up. ❤️
If you are interested in adopting Kat, Kiki, or one of their siblings, everybody has to fill out our adoption application first. This is mandatory for every adoption and helps us make sure each puppy goes to the right home.
And because it is rainy season and we currently have so many puppies looking for homes, we are offering a special rainy-season adoption fee of ₡25,000. If you are an expat and the regular expat adoption fee is difficult for you right now, ₡25,000 is absolutely fine. What matters most to us is finding responsible, loving, permanent homes for these puppies.
As always, spaying/neutering at the appropriate age is part of the adoption commitment.

Where are you located / Is there a shelter I can visit?
We are a foster-based rescue, which means we operate without a shelter or office. Every animal we help is cared for in a foster home. Most of our fosters and volunteers are located in and around San Isidro de El General, Pérez Zeledón, in the Southern Zone of Costa Rica.
Can I visit the animals available for adoption?
Yes! Once your application is approved, we’ll coordinate a meet-and-greet with the foster home.

There are two possible reasons:
1. We haven’t had time to upload the animal to the website, but it may still be available.
2. The animal is in a foster-to-adopt trial or has already found a home. You’re still welcome to apply using our general adoption application. Then we can match you with a similar dog / cat.Are you a officially registered non-profit organization?

Are Donations Tax-Deductible?
Unfortunately, we can't issue tax-deductible receipts for donations made to our Costa Rican Bank Account or PayPal.
However, we’re supported by Friends of Charlie’s Angels Costa Rica, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the U.S. This allows U.S. donors to make tax-deductible contributions to support our rescue work in Costa Rica.
