BENJI

Benji is the sweet boy we rescued after he was found skinny, covered in porcupine quills, and completely shut down.

We honestly weren’t sure if he’d ever recover… but wow, has he proven us wrong!

For the past six weeks, Benji has been in a wonderful foster home with a young woman in Uvita, and she’s absolutely in love with him. He’s turned out to be an absolute gem — calm, kind, and full of gratitude.

He’s super well-behaved, easy-going, and incredibly loyal.

Off leash, he’s amazing — never gets into trouble with other dogs on the street, and his recall is spot on. He listens, learns fast, and is such a joy to have around.

Benji loves walks and exploring nature, but he’s just as happy to chill quietly and chew on his bones. He’s not a fan of cats, but he’s great with other dogs.

At home, Benji prefers staying outside — likely because he’s never really known indoor life. He’ll poke his head inside to say hello but loves his spot on the deck where he can peacefully chill.

In new environments Benji can be a little bit shy at first and looks to his person for reassurance, but once he feels safe, his affectionate and goofy side shines through.

Benji loves gentle attention and being told he’s a good boy.

Benji is about 1–2 years old, 20 kg / neutered, vaccinated, and has completed his heartworm treatment — he’s doing amazing!

Now, he’s ready to find his forever family — someone who enjoys the outdoors, values a loyal companion, and will give him the love he truly deserves.

FAQ

  • Where are you located / Is there a shelter I can visit?

We are a foster-based rescue, which means we operate without a shelter or office. Every animal we help is cared for in a foster home. Most of our fosters and volunteers are located in and around San Isidro de El General, Pérez Zeledón, in the Southern Zone of Costa Rica.

  • Can I visit the animals available for adoption?

Yes! Once your application is approved, we’ll coordinate a meet-and-greet with the foster home.

    For more information visit our:
    DOG ADOPTION PAGE
    CAT ADOPTION PAGE

  • Do you rescue wild animals too?

We focus on rescuing dogs and cats, but we can point you in the right direction if you’ve found a wild animal in distress. We recommend contacting:

Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary in Uvita at +506 2200 3271
Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center via WhatsApp at +506 6058 3898
SINAC (National System of Conservation Areas) at (+506) 2522-6500 for wildlife emergencies.

To report a dog or cat in need please visit our CONTACT PAGE

  • I found a stray dog / cat. Can you help me?

For urgent cases, please refer to our Emergency Guidelines on the CONTACT PAGE.

We are a small, volunteer-run organization with limited resources, but we do our best to help whenever possible. To report a stray animal or find more information, please visit our CONTACT PAGE.

  • I saw a dog / cat on social media up for adoption but can’t find it on the website.

    There are two possible reasons:

    1. We haven’t had time to upload the animal to the website, but it may still be available.

    2. The animal is in a foster-to-adopt trial or has already found a home. You’re still welcome to apply using our general adoption application. Then we can match you with a similar dog / cat.

  • Are you a officially registered non-profit organization?

Yes! Charlies Angels Resque is officially registered under the legal name Asociación Charlie’s Angels CR, cédula jurídica 3-002-757592.

  • How are you funded?

We rely entirely on donations from generous individuals and the occasional fundraising. Every contribution makes a big difference. For more informatiopn visit our DONATION PAGE

  • Are Donations Tax-Deductible?

Unfortunately, we can't issue tax-deductible receipts for donations made to our Costa Rican Bank Account or PayPal.

However, we’re supported by Friends of Charlie’s Angels Costa Rica, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the U.S. This allows U.S. donors to make tax-deductible contributions to support our rescue work in Costa Rica.
